A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in Conroe; three teens, including a 15-year-old, were arrested for murder.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 14-year-old boy is dead and three teens are in custody after a shooting early Saturday morning in Conroe, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened on Douget Road near Highway 105 in the Conroe area.

Deputies responded around 1 a.m. and found the teen lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators quickly identified a 15-year-old male suspect and took him into custody. Further investigation led to the arrests of two additional suspects — 19-year-old James Fuller and 19-year-old Mason Goodwin. All three suspects are from Conroe, the sheriff’s office said.

All three have been charged with murder.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. Fuller and Goodwin were booked into the Montgomery County Jail without incident.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle called the crime a “heartbreaking and senseless act of violence that took the life of a child far too soon.”

“Thanks to the swift and hard work of our deputies, detectives, and partners at the District Attorney’s Office, we were able to quickly identify and apprehend those responsible. While the investigation indicates this stemmed from a personal dispute, no motive can justify such a loss,” he said. “We hope this brings some measure of justice to the victim’s family, and we ask the community to continue lifting them up in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.”

The investigation is ongoing. Additional details will be released as they become available.
