This week’s Veteran is John Thompson, who served in the U.S. Army from 2000-2008. He attended basic and advanced training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. John was a Motor Transport Operator, which was a very important job. Thompson served in Iraq in 2005, delivering anything that was needed around his operating area. His base in Iraq had a water filtration plant, which is very necessary to keep the troops hydrated in the warm weather months. Since it was a combat zone, John took his chances on the road as everyone else, and had some close calls. After his service, Thompson worked in the insurance industry, and continues his work in that endeavor. John also acts on occasion at the Crighton Theatre with Stage-Right Production. His last role was in ‘The Buddy Holly Story,’ in which he played The Big Bopper. Congratulations John on being MCNs ‘Veteran of the Week’.
