MCN's ‘Veteran of the Week' - Debra Hunt

This week’s Veteran is Debra Hunt, who served in the U.S. Army from 1977-1981. She served as a Anti-Tank Guided Missile Technician, more specifically for the MGM-51 Shillelagh missile, which was launched from the conventional gun cannons of the M551 Sheridan or M60A2 tanks. Debra was trained at Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, Alabama. Hunt was stationed at Giebelstadt Army Airfield, in northern Bavaria at the height of the Cold War, doing her job of maintaining and repairing the Shillelagh missiles. Debra, following her service was a bus driver, even starting when she was in high school in Spencer, North Carolina. She studied music in college, but it was driving school buses that was her passion, and she drove for Conroe and Willis ISD, where she was a transportation supervisor 30 years ago. After she retired from the school transportation game, she began her church volunteering efforts with April Sound Church. Good Luck Debra, and Congratulations on being MCNs ‘Veteran of the Week’.
