According to investigators, a person with an alias is booking weddings that won’t happen.

WILLIS, Texas — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating claims about someone believed to be posing as the owner of a wedding venue selling fake bookings.

According to a press release posted on the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning, a person with the alias “Lance Miller” says he is the owner of Charleston Lane Wedding Venue at 7041 Kingston Cove Lane in Willis. According to investigators, the person is not connected to the venue. He reportedly contacts potential clients for bookings, then takes their money through wire transfer, cash and payment apps.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office are working with some people who say they were affected. They’re also asking anyone else who thinks they were victims to call detectives at 936-538-8393 and reference case number 25A151828.
