A Magnolia High alum has been appointed to fill a vacant Magnolia ISD board seat after the sitting board member stepped down from the position in August.Â
Jordan Blake, executive director of Oklahoma-based South Star Senior Living, was appointed to serve in the Position 7 trustee seat during a board meeting on Sept. 11. He replaces former Trustee Chuck Adcox, who ended his 11-year tenure on Aug. 14.

Magnolia ISD Communications Executive Director Denise Meyers called Blake a “great fit.”Â
“He grew up in Magnolia, graduated from Magnolia High, and has a young family in our school system,” Meyers said via email.Â
Blake graduated from Magnolia High in 2002. He has spent most of his career in the senior living industry and is a licensed nursing facility administrator, according to a release from the district. He has two children enrolled in schools within the district, the release states.Â
Blake is filling the remainder of Adcox’s term, which ends in May 2024. Previously, Adcox served as the board president for the district.Â

During a board meeting on Aug. 14, Superintendent Todd Stephens said Adcox felt “within his heart that it’s probably time to step down” to spend more time with his family.Â
“The leadership, the integrity and the wisdom that (Adcox) brought to this board has made a huge difference in Magnolia ISD,” Stephens publicly told Adcox during the board meeting. “It has been a wonderful experience to get to know you, Chuck, and your family. On behalf of this board of trustees, we appreciate all the things you’ve done in working with us and your years of service.”Â
While serving the district, Adcox was part of two bond packages — 2015 and 2022. He was also part of the bond defeasance program, which has saved taxpayers over $56 million in interest and savings, the district’s release states.Â
