On Saturday, April 6, 2025, the Thomas Jefferson Stubbs 2523 Conroe
chapter of the Texas Division, United Daughters met for their monthy meeting. It was a busy meeting, as two brand new members were installed to the chapter.
Jacqueline Fowler Barkman became a member thru her great, great grandfathers name, David Thomas Drummond. He was a Private in Co B 36th Infantry Regiment Alabama, he enlisted on 11 November 1862 in Clinton, Alabama and served thru 10 May 1865. He was born 28 October 1831 and died 2 July 1898. He was married to Mary Francis Drummond and they had 13 children. After the war, they settled in Greene County, Alabama, where he was a farmer.
Both of Mrs. Barkman’s ancestors are buried in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Greene County, Alabama.
The second new member installed on Saturday was Reba Box Taylor and she became a member thru her great grandfather, Joseph Goodwin Box. He was born Tennessee abt 1825 and passed away after 1880 in Nacogoches County, Texas. He enlisted in Rusk, Texas in March of 1865, in Co F 31 Regiement in Rusk. He was married to Lucinda Willingham Box and they settled in Nacogdoches County, Texas after the war.
The course of business followed the agenda set for the meeting. Reports were given and decisions were made for upcoming events during the year.
