Another fun event happened in November for two area Lions clubs. The Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club and Montgomery Lions Club hosted their annual Chili Cook-Off at Walden Yacht Club.

A  great time was had by all who attended. The weather was perfect for some good-ole chili tasting. Many teams stirred up their culinary masterpieces for a chance of being the days big winner.  In addition, the Leos from Montgomery High School (sponsored by Montgomery Lions Club) and Lake Creek High School (sponsored by Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club) whipped up some scrumptious desserts as delicious endings to delicious rib-stickin’ chili.  And to add to the fun of the day,  tasters were entertained the whole time by the music of Bobby Ray Rankin. But best of all, every bit of the proceeds were donations to the Texas Lions Camp!

The judges ( Stephen Mabry – President and CEO Texas Lions Camp, Neil Lander – Lions District 2-S2 Governor, Coco Phillips – Coffee News, Shannon Reid – Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and Jane Cherry, RN, MSN – Methodist Hosptial, Director of Quality and Patient Outcomes) had a very hard time deciding on what chili team would take home the trophies,  but after much deliberation they finally came up with the winners.

And they were: (Drum roll please!)  First Place – Team Herzog (Third year in a row!), Second Place – Conroe Noon Cookers, Third Place – Grand House and the People’s Choice Award- Cut and Shoot Family Campfire Cookers.

Actually, everyone who cooked, tasted or participated in any way is to be congratulated for helping such a worthy cause.
