This past week, the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe changed its usual location to have a Christmas social event at the spectacular home of Kym (and Greg) Crane, right on the lake above Bentwater.

Most of us were able to go exploring the back country and actually find her house, aided notably by the light show all around her home, including the lake side.

Led by the happy Christmas tree, Robert Morrison, and by Kym herself, the group brought Christmas cookies and packed them into fully decorated boxes. Kym and her cohorts will bring them to the Montgomery County Women’s Shelter as our hope to bring some tasty cheer. Being in a shelter at this time of year has got to be difficult, so these cookies and strong, positive thoughts should uplift us all.

Sherry Bogus, president of the club next year in July, along with Linda Arm-Twister Adams, held the first of many drawings for the wine baskets, wine being donated by Tommy Metcalf. Leslie Mauldin yelled out when her ticket was drawn, and she unabashedly picked up the basket. Eleven more baskets with some really fine vino will be raffled off in the future, so stay tuned with Sherry and Linda.

More RCLC News:  Last Saturday, the club joined forces with the Parrotheads from Margaritaville — Lake Conroe, and held a blood drive.  A really good result was had as most of the “victims” met the criteria and delivered first class red liquid (or is it blue?) with just the slightest of whimpers.

The queen of the Parrotheads, Kris Nordstrom McBride, led the charge and is to be congratulated for her smiling face throughout. Thanks to Kris and thanks to all the donors and the many volunteers who made it happen.

The club meets the first and third Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. at Amore’ Seafood & Fine Dining, 14860 Texas 105, Montgomery.
