Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club members were roaring with excitement last month when they hosted their first Lions Cruisin’ 2023 Car Show that took place at Walden Yacht Club.

There was lots of music, 50/50 drawings and drawings for other fabulous gifts such as a Pumpkin Time Basket, a Wine Tasting at Bernhardt Winery, a Houston Sling Slot Rental and a Lake Lifeboat Rental.

T-shirts were also on sale, and many purchased them as a memento of this first-time fund raiser. But the highlight of the event was just walking around and oohing and aahing over the fabulous cars that were on display. These autos ranged from models from the 1920s all the way to this century.
The excitement kept building during the day until the judges reached their decision. Drum roll please!

The First Place Trophy and also the Most Unusual Award went to John Edelstein with his 1964 blue Amphicar.

Second Place was awarded to Beverly Blair who took home a trophy for her 1927 Model T Ford.

Sammy Robertson won a Third Place Trophy for his 2015 Dodge Hellcat.

Congratulations to all the winners and for everyone who participated or attended!

But there was one more very special award bestowed and that was the People’s Choice Award. Overwhelmingly, the people voted to give this special recognition to all of the EMS and Firefighters on site. Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe.

Many, many thanks to Jan Jessen and her committee for not only putting on such an awesome and fun event, but also raising lots of money for the Texas Lions Camp and other programs that benefit our community.
