Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club held their first meeting of the 2023-24 year was a very special one, not only because of the awesome and dedicated new LCCLC officers, but also because we honored two very outstanding young men.
As usual, our meeting began with the pledge to the United States flag followed by the pledge to the Texas Flag, led by newly elected LCCLC Vice-President Dot Anderson.  Then newly elected President Katherine Maher led us in a prayer.
As always, before the business meeting begins, we share our “good news.” Bill Hogan shared the great news that he just received the results from all of his medical tests, and he is in great health! Katherine just got back from a fun family vacation and is looking forward to going to Croatia with her daughter on a Mediterranean cruise.  Speaking of cruises, Dave Underdown jokingly mentioned that he was happy to have survived a recent Alaskan cruise traveling with his wife.
After the Secretary, Treasurer and President made their reports, Dot introduced our 2023 Scholarship Winners, Grayson Bussell and Anthony Paladino.Â
Grayson graduated from Lake Creek High School in Montgomery and will be attending Texas State University. Â He will be majoring in Concrete Industry Management, a topic that he has been interested in for many years. Grayson believes this is an area that will always provide opportunities for employment and advancement. Â Grayson’s graduating GPA was 3.52 and his strong leadership abilities are certain to guarantee success in his future career.
Anthony also graduated from Lake Creek High School and will be attending Sam Houston State College, majoring in Film and TV Production. Â Anthony has been interested in filmmaking since he was a child and actually made his first movie when he was 8 years old. Â Anthony was an officer in the Lake Creek High School Leo’s Club which is sponsored by Lake Conroe Centennial Lions Club. Â He graduated with a 3.60 GPA. Â Anthony hopes to do some acting but his ultimate goal is to produce his own Oscar Award winning movie.
We wish our outstanding scholarship award winners great success in their future endeavors.
Save the date! Â LCCLC’s Car Show will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Walden Yacht Club parking lot. Â Details to follow.
