Hundreds of people from all over the Lake Conroe community gathered at Lone Star Community Center to enjoy Lake Conroe Area Republican Women’s annual “My American Hero” Awards Luncheon held at Lone Star Community Center.

As usual, the place was packed, and excitement was in the air. It was indeed inspiring to see so many young people and their families joining together to honor a citizen of the greatest country in the world. Some of the heroes were historical figures, some are current figures in sports, business or government. And some heroes hit closer to home, having a personal impact. But all deserve to be honored as heroes.

LCARW President Molly Adame opened the program by welcoming everyone in attendance. A prayer was then given by Judge Wayne Mack followed by Constable Chris Jones, Precinct 5, who led us in the Pledges to the United State Flag and the Texas Flag. Elected officials and distinguished guests were then introduced.

“My American Hero” Chair Nancy Oughton gave a brief history of the program and then Carlene Thomas introduced Willis Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Kimberly James and WISD Principals, Counselors and Teachers attending.

Stephanie Johnson then introduced Carrie Fitzpatrick, Assistant Superintendent Elementary of Montgomery Independent School District and MISD Principals, Counselors, and Teachers attending.

Then, what we were all waiting for! LCARW Janis Boulware presented the talented student winners with their much-deserved awards.  And these winners are … drum roll please …
