Several large events from a children’s festival in downtown Conroe to Ironman’s North American Championship in The Woodlands are on tap for Montgomery County this weekend. 

Here’s what to know about several shows, exhibitions, a festival and Ironman Texas taking place this Friday through Sunday.

Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 

Elite triathletes from all over the world will converge on The Woodlands this weekend for the annual Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas race. 

The triathletes begin early in the morning Saturday with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands, then a 112-mile bike ride where the course includes the Hardy Toll Road and finally a 26-mile run in The Woodlands Town Center. 

The finish line is along Waterway Avenue near Goose’s Acre Pub and spectators will congregate in this area all day. A link on Ironman Texas has spectator info.

Conroe Kidzfest 

Several blocks of downtown Conroe will be turned into a gigantic playground courtesy Conroe’s Parks and Recreation Department annual Kidzfest children’s festival. 

It is free and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 500 Metcalf in Heritage Place Park. In a variety of interactive villages kids can explore, play and learn through engaging activities. Expect hands-on experiments, displays, music and performances, games, inflatables, water activities and more.

Commemorative Air Force Warbird Expo

The Commemorative Air Force Gulf Coast Wing hosts a Warbird Expo of vintage planes Saturday at the Conroe North Houston Regional Airport.

Five World War II warbirds will descend on Conroe for a day of hands-on history. Featured aircraft include B-25 Mitchell bomber Yellow Rose, the aircraft made famous in the World War II Raid Over Tokyo; paratroop transport That’s All, Brother, the very airplane that led the US paratroopers across the English Channel on D-Day in 1944; the Helldiver dive-bomber; the SNJ / T6 Texan advanced trainer; and the the twin engine Navy JRB, Little Raider. 

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and teens, $5 for children or $20 for a family of two adults and up to three children.

Texas Mineral and Fossil Show

Rocky Mountain Gems and Minerals hosts the 2025 Texas Mineral and Fossil Show Friday through Sunday at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe. 

The group putting it on specializes in a variety of minerals, cabochons, fossils, gemstones, jewelry and supplies. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 

The event has free parking and free admission.
