Independent film studio Military Movies is releasing its first feature film “Lonesome Soldier” in movie theaters today.
The story is a true story based on the novel “The Lonesome Soldier: The Long Road Home” by Linda Lee.
The film will be released in hundreds of theaters across the the U.S. leading up to Veteran’s Day and through Thanksgiving.
Houston-area theaters showing the film are Regal Cinemas: Pearland Premiere 6, Benders Landing and Edwards Houston Marquee, Grand Premiere Lux, Texas City Premiere Cinema, Premiere Cinema 14 Burleson Commons and Tomball 6.
“Lonesome Soldier” depicts a young man’s journey from enlistment to discharge and the toll the realities of war take on his mental health. With a relatable cast of characters in a typical American family trying to earn a good living, “Lonesome Soldier” speaks to active-duty military and their families, veterans and patriotic movie-going Americans who understand the power of a mother’s love to hold together a soldier torn by the effects of PTSD.
The film addresses the topic of veteran suicide head on.
According to the film’s press materials, in an effort to stop soldier suicide, give them an inclusive ‘voice’ on the big screen, and help those who serve and their families, Military Movies bring real experiences to life through cinema to help strengthen family bonds and encourage service members to stay engaged with local communicates.
Military Movies has partnered with VetTix.org, a nonprofit organization that provides veterans and those active in the military free tickets to events which reduce stress, and build life-long memories.
Moviegoers and nonprofit organizations will have the opportunity to “Buy a Vet a Ticket” to see “Lonesome Soldier” by signing up for free at https://www.vettix.org.
Active military and veterans who sign up for Vet Tix will pay a small delivery fee to receive their free tickets.
Directed by Nino Aldi, “Lonesome Soldier” is co-written by Alexander Randazzo and Oscar-nominated Lionel Chetwynd. Randazzo also stars as young Jackson Harlow, a National Guard serviceman whose outlook dramatically changes following his deployment to Iraq. Rounding out the ensemble cast are John Ashton (Beverly Hills Cop), Allison McAtee (Iron Man), Steve Monroe (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Leah Grosjean and Flavia Watson. C. Charles Pappas, Mark Wallace and Randazzo produced, with executive producers James Dillon, Steve Monroe, and Richard Randazzo.
