Lowe’s plans a $12 million store in Willis, while Home Depot is set to open a $17 million location between The Woodlands and Conroe.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Two fast-growing Montgomery County communities are getting two national home-improvement rivals.

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Lowe’s Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) has registered an estimated $12 million, 107,136-square-foot project for a new store in Willis, and The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) is planning a $17 million, 135,672-square-foot store between The Woodlands and Conroe.

A spokesperson for The Home Depot told the Houston Business Journal the store on the northeast corner of FM 1314 and state Highway 242 is expected to open in fall 2026.

The Atlanta-based company is listed as the owner of the property, which appears to be part of a broader retail development. An online brochure by The Blue Ox Group markets the 40-acre property for retail leasing in an 11,200-square-foot building expected to be delivered in December 2025. The broker, Jack Savery, did not respond to a voicemail and email.
