February 8, 2025 marked the 8th Annual Victorian Literary Tea held by the Thomas Jefferson Stubbs 2523, Conroe Chapter of the Texas Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
The tea was hosted at the Living Savior Lutheran Church in Montgomery, Texas. The tables were set with beautiful china, cloth table linens, silver utensils, gorgeous stemware and the most perfect tea cups and saucers.
A variety of finger sandwiches, fruit, veggies, quiche, sausage balls and cream cheese bite size rollups were served. The dessert table was full of tasty sweets and the big draw were the scones.
The following seven members of the Stubbs chapter gave six book reviews and one reported on a song. Carolyn Jamail presented “Wuthering Heights” written by Emily Bronte, Schelle Taylor presented “Paris in the Twentieth Century” written by Jules Verne, Michele Scanlin presented “The Trial of the Soldier’s Wife” written by Alexander St. Clair Abrams, Naschelle Taylor presented “Laurie: A Journey into the Crystal” written by George Sand, Delise Henry presented “Selected Works by Emily Dickinson”, Jackie Barkmann presented “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott and last,
Eva Rains presented a music selection “Shenandoah” written in the 19th century.
It was interesting listening to these book reviews and having good conversations among all of those who attended the tea. What a beautiful site is was to see all the stunning hats that were worn.
It is very nice to set back and enjoy a nice cup of hot tea.
