The Woodlands was the hot spot for voters casting ballots for the Nov. 7 election, with 9,200 people voting early at the South County Community Center.

According to voting totals from the Montgomery County elections office, 28,807 of the county’s 142,825 registered voters visited poll sites between Oct. 23 through Thursday. Of those, 1,012 were mail-in ballots.

Through Thursday, 9,215 people voted at the South Montgomery County Community Center, followed by 4,208 at the Central Library in Conroe; 3,070 at the Lone Star Community Center in Montgomery; 2,462 at the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center in Spring; 2,270 at the North Montgomery County Community Center in Willis; 2,261 at East Montgomery County Fair Association Building; 2,162 at the Magnolia Event Center in Magnolia; 1,679 at the West Montgomery County Community Development Center; and 457 at the East Montgomery County Community Development Center in Splendora.

Totals for Friday were not immediately available.

Election day is Tuesday. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Conroe ISD

If voters approve a $1.9 Conroe ISD bond package, it would add eight new schools, several school additions and renovations and new technology.

The bond is divided into four propositions.

At $1.8 billion, Proposition A would add eight new schools, including a new Woodlands elementary school; renovate or expand eight schools, including McCullough Junior High, The Woodlands High School and Knox Junior High; and fund master plans for Oak Ridge High School and Washington High School. 

Proposition B would add $40 million in new technology, while Proposition C would add a new ag barn and 16 new PE classrooms and elementary school gyms. Prop D would add $22.9 million for a new pool and renovations to the district’s natatorium near Woodforest Stadium.

The Woodlands Township

Two incumbents and five newcomers are seeking seats 5, 6 and 7 on The Woodlands township board, which oversees the township’s yearly budget and spending, parks and recreation and new economic development projects. Each board member holds a two-year term.

Two-term incumbent Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, a former Houston city council member and U.S. House representative will compete against Cochran’s Crossing Village Association president and Residential Design Review Committee member Tricia Danto for Position 5.

Longtime community member and current township chairman Ann Snyder will run for reelection for Position 6 alongside Thomas Andrew Chumbley, who, at 24, is this election’s youngest candidate.

Position 7 board member Bob Milner will not run for reelection. Instead, voters can choose between community volunteer and 2023 CISD Bond Committee member Cindy Heiser, former Grogan’s Mill and Cochran’s Crossing Village Association member Thomas M. Chumbley and Ann Perry, who recently rallied several hundred neighbors to halt construction of a public restroom at Capstone Park.

New Caney and Splendora ISDs

Elizabeth Rhoden Harrell is running unopposed for New Caney ISD Position 1 and Creg Mixon and Kristina Haggard are vying for Position 2.

For Splendora, Kenneth Key and Jennifer Stewart for running for Position 1 and Dan Muirhead and Barry Welch are running unopposed for Position 2 and Position 3, respectively.

City of Patton Village

Dave Fields and Scott Anderson are running for mayor, while Dyane Anderson and Leah Tarrant are vying for Position 1. Position 5 has no candidate but allows a write-in.

City of Roman Forest

Beth Anne Greco is challenging Chris Parr for mayor and Fallon Bulli is running against Christopher Ellis for Position 2. Gregory Partin is running unopposed for Position 4 and John M. Bartlett, Jerry Reasner and Larry Sanders are vying for the unexpired Position 3 term.

City of Splendora

Carlos Hernandez and Dorothy Welch are running for mayor, with William Ramey and Evelyn Myers running unopposed for Position 1 and Position 2, respectively.
