Marking our Nation’s 249th
birthday, this premier patriotic event, the largest parade between Houston and
Dallas, celebrated in grand style. With
county fire engines and emergency vehicles leading the way, over 150 parade entries
featured dozens of local officials and lawmakers, privately decorated cars,
over 2 dozen youth organizations, business sponsored floats, high school
marching bands, law enforcement, horse riders, and veteran groups.

The parade started with a cannon shot
from “Rolling Thunder” at 9:00 a.m.
Winding past Town Green Park and through The Woodlands Town Center into
Market Street, the Freedom Chapter Color Guard marched through the streets
lined ten deep in many spots along the 1.3-mile route. A flag waving crowd of over 20,000 men,
women, and children arrived early to share and participate in the
celebration. The spirit of patriotism
and respect for our nation’s flag was acknowledged by hundreds as they stood,
hand over heart, and removed hats.

“Wings of Liberty: Celebrating the
Bald Eagle”, the theme of the 2025 parade, was selected to honor our U.S.
National Bird, symbolizing our independence, strength, and patriotism.

Thanks to Mr. John Powers, President
of the South County Fourth of July Parade Committee, for this opportunity and
honor to celebrate by carrying the Colors.
Quoting Mr. Powers: “We can’t wait to see you next year! It will be the 50th Anniversary of
the South County 4th of July parade and the 250th
Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is
an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the
contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to
create for the next generation and beyond.”

The Sons of the American Revolution
(SAR) is the largest male lineage organization in the United States dedicated
to honoring Revolutionary War patriot ancestors by promoting patriotism,
serving communities, and educating future generations about the founding
principles of our country.
