Conroe is getting its first Smalls Sliders burger chain, planned near Conroe High School.
The fast-growing chain, which serves cheeseburger sliders, seasoned waffle fries and milkshakes out of a 750-square-foot “Smorange-colored” shipping container, known as a “Can,” is making its way across Texas. The first Montgomery County location opened in Willis in fall 2024.

Conroe’s “Can drop” of the shipping container will take place at 8 a.m. July 21 at 2116 West Davis just down Texas 105 from Conroe High School.
The new Conroe location will be owned and operated by multi-unit franchisees Preston Cunningham and David Higgins alongside the director for strategic growth and operations for Smalls Sliders Allison Smith. Higgins also operates the Willis location.
When a new Can is dropped, Smalls Sliders honors a Smalls Town Hero in that community.
For the Conroe Can drop, Smalls Sliders is celebrating Nathan Arrazate, known as Santa Nate.
“Santa Nate is a beloved local figure known for spreading joy throughout Conroe, renowned for his community service and positive impact,” according to a release from Smalls Sliders.
BACK TO SCHOOL: Montgomery County Clerk’s Office open Saturday for back-to-school records for children
Additionally, Smalls Sliders will donate a portion of the opening day’s proceeds to Family Promise of Montgomery County. The nonprofit group offers a 90-day program in partnership with local congregations to provide shelter, meals, transportation and assistance for homeless families with children.
Food is served out of the custom-built storage container, with a drive-thru, outdoor seating and a walk-up window.
The Louisiana-based chain was founded in 2019 by Brandon Landry and is backed by retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. More locations are coming soon to Tomball, Arlington and El Paso, according to the Smalls Sliders website.
An opening date has not yet been set for the Conroe location.
