The Hideaway Bar at 202 Main in downtown Conroe has received a festive makeover for the holiday season.Â
The bar that is tucked away from the city streets behind 202 Main has become a holiday pop up bar for the season complete with dazzling decorations from floor to ceiling, special limited edition holiday drinks, Christmas music and festive photo ops.Â

Here are five things to know about the spot’s transformation:
What is 202 Main?Â
The event venue at 202 Main Street in downtown opened in April 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the timing, the venue has seen much success in the years following and in 2021 a courtyard area opened behind 202 Main and The Hideaway Bar was launched in the courtyard area.Â
The Hideaway is an enclosed bars with windows that look out on the courtyard. There’s a long bar and photo grenery wall that’s decorated for Christmas.Â
The venue is owned by the Krueger family that also owns the Branding Iron Custom Goods and Switch Hair Studio in the same building on Main Street. The courtyard is home to one of downtown Conroe’s funkiest and most photo worthy murals by artist Catherine Stroud. Stroud grew up in The Woodlands and attended The John Cooper School.
While The Hideaway is geared for adults, the courtyard is a family friendly area and they host an all ages open mic every Sunday at 1 p.m. 202 Main is open for lunch with a variety of sandwiches, burgers, tacos, flatbreads, eggrolls, pastas and salads.Â
Holiday drink specialsÂ
202 Main Manager Adam Isbell said many people still don’t know about The Hideaway Bar or aren’t sure what it is and he hopes this pop-up concept will bring more exposure to the space which is also open for hosting small groups.Â
This month the pop-up bar features a variety of special cocktails including a White Chocolate Peppermint Martini, Cranberry Irish Mule, Rowdy Rudolph with tequila, Grand Marnier, sweet and sour, apple cider and lime, a Fireside Sour with bourbon, sweet & sour, egg whites, maple syrup and cinnamon.Â
The 12th Day cocktail has Tanqueray Gin, pear nectar, lemon, tonic and rosemary.Â

“In the fall, everyone wants pumpkin spice. At Christmas it is white chocolate peppermint mocha. It’s one of our most popular drinks,” Isbell said.Â
202 Main owner Keath Krueger said the cocktail recipes are a reflection of some of the staff’s favorite flavors of the season.Â
