Investigators said they believe Landon Slatter set up a sexual encounter when the victim was younger than 17. Slatter immediately resigned and was booked into jail.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A 15-year law enforcement veteran immediately resigned after being arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child, according to Montgomery County authorities.

Landon Slatter, 42, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. It’s unclear when he’s due in court.

The investigation

The investigation began in January when Montgomery County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office when a parent reached out and said they thought their 17-year-old son was being sexually abused by several men he met on social media platforms. The parent told investigators they thought it had been going on since the victim was 14 or 15.

A detective with Pct. 3 found out that Slatter set up a meeting with the victim when he was younger than 17 and solicited a sexual encounter.

That’s when they found out Slatter worked for MCSO and brought that department into the investigation.
