During its May 22 meeting, Conroe City Council approved a bid for public restrooms in Founders Plaza with a completion goal of before Christmas, Deputy City Administrator Nancy Mikeska said.

The detail

The cost for the restrooms is slated for $156,406, however it was budgeted to be $300,000—saving the city half of the funds allotted for the project, Mikeska said in the meeting.

According to agenda documents, the $156,406 will fund two private restrooms with options to add electric hand dryers at an additional cost.

How we got here

As a way to improve downtown’s visual appeal and upkeep of the area, Conroe City Council approved a Downtown Rangers Program at a March 27 meeting, as previously reported. Part of the program’s goals is to add restrooms to Founders Plaza, signage and other projects.
