This past Wednesday, the convention center filled with Lions ready to ‘Level Up.’ New member Nicole Pettit did it by receiving her official blue badge.Â
Our speaker, Chip Baker, a Conroe native who is also known as a teacher or coach turned motivational speaker brought the energy.  Chip reminded us that ‘Leveling Up’ requires intentional actions.Â
• Love – You have to love yourself, what you do, and the people around you.
• Intentional – Have a purpose and understand your purpose fuels your passion.
• Optimistic – Be positive and believe there are bigger and better things in store.
• New Opportunities – Opportunities Bring Opportunities – be grateful for the opportunities you have right now.
• Service – service equals fulfillment.
This is exactly what Lionism is about.  Lions love those around them and today is no different.  With the recent floods in our hill country, we pray for those whose lives were impacted. We pray for those on the front lines helping with recovery efforts.  We love one another for the struggles they go through, the accomplishments they have and the people they are.Â
Lions are intentional because we know our purpose is to make our world a better place. Â With all the pillars that we support we do it with passion and grit.Â
We are optimistic that every little bit helps towards the greater goal. We are positive that every pair of eyeglasses we receive will one day help someone see better and every project we support helps someone ‘Level Up’ in their life.Â
Opportunities to make a difference are everywhere and if you are reading this and looking for an opportunity to support a great cause then join us this Wednesday at noon at the Lonestar Convention Center to learn more about Lions and what we do.
The Lions motto is We Serve.Â
Right now, we are going to be serving during our Service Saturday project on July 19th at our Eyeglass Recycling Center in Conroe bagging and tagging glasses that are ready to find their next pair of eyes to love.Â
We will also be serving at our Summer Blood Drive, Wednesday, July 23 at the Lonestar Convention Center from 10am – 4pm. Since the need for blood never takes a vacation we are looking for donors; if you wish to donate, please contact the club office to get signed up.Â
For those who are wondering about our Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX we are happy to share that it is ok.  The camp is open this week.  Our hearts and prayers go out to all affected by the recent floods.  Our club has donated to the Kerrville Host Lions Club Foundation to help with immediate relieve, clean-up efforts and support impacted families.Â
We have officially started a new Lion’s year with President Tracy at the podium she is ready to ‘Level Up’ our club.  If you are ready to join us there is no better time than now to get started.Â
