Good morning to all. President Bryan Rennell called Conroe Noon Lions Club to order at around 12:15 p.m.

Lion Bert Steinman lead us in ‘God Bless America’ followed by our favorite ‘Smile’ song.  Next came our invocation asking our Lord to grace our efforts of service to our community.  President Bryan also reminded us that it was the 250th anniversary of our US Army and recognized our Army veterans.  He then called up the chairman for reports on our different projects recently held and upcoming ones.

First, Lion Secretary Andrew Perry announced an upcoming Service Saturday on June 21st 9:00 am at the Lions Office.  This project will be putting together activity kits and care packages for children battling cancer at Texas Children’s Hospital. Next up was 2VP Shareen Carr who gave us a report on our club’s eyeglasses recycling center this past weekend.  A tour was planned for clubs from Lions District 2S2 to visit the facility last Saturday.  Four clubs sent members who were very pleased to find out exactly what happens to the used eyeglasses they donate and how our vision center processes them for mission trips around the world.

Moving on Lion Jake Freeman reminded us about our upcoming Installation Banquet on Friday, June 20; we’re looking forward to this fun year end event as we bring in new officers and directors for the upcoming Lions year.  President Bryan finished the announcements with our upcoming Community Partnership Appreciation Day scheduled for Wednesday, June 25. We appreciate our community partners very much.

We were pleased to have our own Lion Scott Perry present our program this week on the Community Assistance Center.  Their mission is to meet basic needs and improve the quality of life for our neighbors in Montgomery County.  They provide many needs such as food pantry, resale shop, community education financial assistance. Lion Scott introduced us to Lion Mark Wilson the Center ‘s Chief Finance person, Development Director Kristi Leggett and CEO Jennifer Huffine.  They reported assisting 35,000 people and all three presented information facts about their center and their programs. Of which our club assist with periodic vision screening through the Community Assistance Center.  Jennifer also announced the naming of the ‘Medved Compassion in Action Award’ in honor of Mike Medved a past director and volunteer for CAC as well as a past member of our own Conroe Noon Lions Club.

President Bryan adjourned the meeting and despite the rain he told all the members to have a great day.
