As the sun rose on the range on Saturday, Lions and shooters were all prepared for an exciting morning at our Annual Clay Shoot.  Most shooters were able to at least sing “Another one bites the dust”, but we still did have our winner for the Nothing But Air Award.  From the Live Auction to the Gun Raffle, the flurry station to the street tacos, everyone had a great time.  The proceeds earned from the event will be used directly back to our community.  VP Tracy Irvine gave a huge thank you to all volunteers and the committee chairs (Lion Philip, Lion Jeff, and Lion Jamie) who showed some “True Grit”.

Conroe Noon Lions have not only been working on the range, but they have been wrangling preschoolers during our fall Vision Screenings. The vision screenings are happening 2-3 days a week at various daycares around Montgomery County and will continue through mid-November. Vision Screenings for children will also be available at the Conroe VFW Trunk or Treat on Saturday October 26th from 11am-3pm. These vision screenings are vital to the community as most children have trouble communicating their vision issues. October would not be complete for the club without our upcoming Service Saturday which will also require some “True Grit”.  Club members will be cleaning up Lions Park on Saturday October 19th, which is located at 1851 N. Hampton, Conroe, TX 77303.

Calling all Teens! The Conroe Leo Club is currently looking to expand their membership within our community with teens ages 12-17. This club will help develop leadership, project management, communication, service hours and creative skills. Currently, the Conroe LEO Club is doing a special education book drive for reading levels K-2nd grade which will support Cryar Intermediate School. Please bring all donations to the Conroe Noon Lions Club Office.  The next meeting for the Conroe Leo Club will be October 28th where they will be serving by working in the CNLC Eyeglass Recycling Center.

The Conroe Noon Lions this week were visited by royalty, the First Vice District Governor, Lion Mike George, and Second Vice District Governor, Lion Kevin Smith.  The pair was energized by our club and brought the good news of a service project with the Sunshine Kids coming up in November for the district. The Mid-Winter Conference & Bob Dowden Dinner will be coming up January 25th where the district will raise funds for Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, TX.

Roars all around Conroe have been heard during our current fall membership drive.  Lion Helen & Lion Junette have become celebrities within the club so make sure to get their autographs! As the drive continues between men versus ladies Lions, the ladies are up 84-46 points.  Tail Twister Lion Warner has called for a forensic review of the point totals by a CPA.  This comes despite the fact that Lion Warner was caught not wearing his ‘Ask Me to Roar’ blue membership shirt this week.  As you see members around Conroe with this shirt, please make sure to stop and ‘ASK them to ROAR’ and hear about our wonderful Conroe Noon Lions Club!

Please come join us on Wednesdays, at noon, at the Lone Star Convention Center.  For more information, please visit our website, www.conroenoonlions.org or call the local club office at 936-760-1666.  You may also call 936-760-1666 for additional information on any area Lions Club.
