Want to be a Conroe Noon Lion? Here’s what you will get to do if you join our great club. This week the Club got to hear from Leadership Coach and author Jeff C. West. Jeff has authored three books, including “The Unexpected Tour Guide” and “Said the Lady With Blue Hair.” But he emphasized the theme of his newest book entitled “Streetwise to Saleswise: Become Objection Proof and Beat the Sales Blues.” Jeff taught the Club members the importance of getting to know your client/constituents, showing gratitude to them, and creating a unique experience for them when they deal with you or your business. He says this is a sure formula for success!
Speaking of success, the ‘Lion of the Month’ award was given to Beverly Wright for her hard work to make the silent auction a big success for last month’s “Legend of the Lion” Dinner/Dance & Auction fundraiser. This annual event is critical to raising funds for the many worthwhile community projects we do all year long.
One of those projects was completed this past weekend when 20 Lions descended upon an elderly woman’s home in Conroe with lumber, Quick Crete and many tools to rebuild some fencing around her home. The woman, who is disabled and on fixed-income, is the primary care-giver for her sister who suffers from memory loss, and they were unable to afford any of these repairs on their own. Thank you to Lion Chris Forbes for bringing the coffee! One long, hard Saturday morning and 20 tired, sore Lions later, all repairs now made the yard safe for the two ladies and their small dog. That’s what the Lions do!
Another big THANK YOU for the surprise $500 donation from our Community Partner, Incredible Pizza, which chose the Conroe Noon Lions Club as the first charity to donate money from their “charity machine” you can play near the entrance to their huge game room.
The Club continues to routinely receive, sort, clean, repair and distribute eyeglasses for mission trips around the world. And so, our Eyeglass Recycling Center is offering up a Saturday workday on March 29th from 9am-12noon for our club volunteers who can’t make the weekday hours. The Club will hold its next Vision Screening with the Community Assistant Center, which is currently scheduled to take place on May 19th.
These are a few of the wonderful reasons why you want to be a Conroe Noon Lion, and now is the perfect time as we are in the middle of a spring Membership Drive. We are on a Scavenger Hunt of sorts with fun ways to show our Lion’s spirit and service, while searching for new recruits. Contact our club office and myself or any other Conroe Noon Lion can turn your ‘want to into a reality’.
Please come and join us any Wednesday at noon. The food is good, and fellowship is great! The Conroe Noon Lions Club meets on Wednesdays, at noon, at the Lone Star Convention Center.
