The sun will soon be setting for ‘Lions Under the Lone Star’, our annual Dinner/Dance & Auction Gala on February 13th.  Lions are busy corralling auction items, decorations and Lion helpers for the big event.  All attendees will be putting on their dancing boots for a performance by ‘Shotgun Road’. A big THANK YOU to all the Live & Silent Auction donors, we appreciate you!

On February 22nd the Lions will serve at their Service Saturday by assembling breakfast bags for Meals on Wheels.  It is always rewarding to assist seniors from worrying about their next meal.  On January 29th the CNLC participated in a blood drive where they were able to save 72 lives.  Thank you to everyone who donated!

As summer is quickly approaching, the Conroe Noon Lions Club is assisting the Texas Lions Camp prepare for campers.  Texas Lions Camp is a FREE camp for children with Physical Disabilities, Type 1 Diabetes, and Down Syndrome.  How is the camp free you ask for children attending?  Lions from across Texas donate to the cause for these children so they can have the ability to be able to attend a summer camp with medical personnel and counselors.  The camp is in the beautiful Kerrville, TX and more information can be found at https://www.lionscamp.com/. Many Lions have favorite memories of attending an awards celebration for the campers at the end of the week.

If your child is eligible to attend, I highly recommend taking advantage of this as they will earn a new level of confidence in life! On April 19th Conroe Noon Lions Club will be assembling 20-30 footlockers for the camp. The club will also serve at their annual work weekend May 3rd at the camp.  Lions are tasked with painting railing, clearing tree debris, providing the horses with a spa day, and even catching the baby goats to be vetted.  After all the hard work Lions gather around to celebrate what they have accomplished for the day.  Texas Lions Camp and the service that surrounds it opens your eyes to what being a Lion is about.

Have you ever wondered who the best team of the night is on a football field?  Commonly we think of only two teams battling it out, but there is another very important team that keeps everything going, the Officials.  Mr. Tommy Moore, National Football League Official #60, provided the club this week with some insightful experiences as a football official. Even though fans get angry with the way the officials make their calls, the officials are always prepared for the 5 tough calls each night and hope they make the right one. Officials just like cameras may not see everything due to another player being in the way or something else going on the field.

Mr. Moore was very insightful explaining, “There’s that one person that has or wants something out there that needs you”, whether this is a Lion, church member or even neighbor in need.  “You don’t do one thing 100% better than the other guy.  You do 100 things 1% better than the other guy and that is how you get better.” As Lions we should always be 1% better and ask others to visit a club meeting or service event. You never know who needs the love that Lions not only provide others, but each other.
