Grab your modified six shooter as the Conroe Noon Lions are preparing the Wild West Shootout which will be our 39th Annual Conroe Noon Lions Club Golf Tournament. The challenge will be to shoot every hole under 6 shots! The tournament will be held May 22nd at the Walden Golf Course with a morning and afternoon flight. Fun fact the club’s very first tournament took place at the Walden Golf Course back in June of 1987!

We are still on the lookout for goodie bag items and door prizes, which is a great opportunity to market your business in front of a large audience. As we wind down this 2024-2025 Lions year we will have one final vision screening at the Community Assistance Center on Monday, May 19th. If you are in need of assistance to obtain a vision screening, please reach out to CAC so they can assist you with registering. Shout out to Lion Connie Engle for corralling the equipment and club members to make these screenings possible!

Past President, Lion Warner Phelps enlightened us on an ongoing Lion’s feud with Lion Ladoris Cates over the prized possession of the original Lioness Club Charter. Warner had a good argument that his mom had signed the document, so he was keeping it safe in his office. Lion Ladoris was quick to remind him that the Charter did not belong in his personal museum, but in the Conroe Noon Lions Club Hall of Fame (a.k.a. the Club Office).  Mr. Phelps also presented today’s program to the club asking are you prepared for Hurricane Season.  As a seasoned insurance agent Warner has learned quite a bit over the past few years in regard to weather events and how they affect insurance.  First, he recommended everyone to have a secondary plan if your residence/vehicle is effected by an event.

Remember insurance claims do not happen overnight and can take time to process. Make sure you have a cash reserve account to cover your deductible and other possible costs. Keep in mind to make sure you are managing the maintenance of the home to ensure your coverage will take effect.  Secondly, it is very important that you understand your coverage and make sure your agent is not excluding important items just to save you a buck! Inflation has also increased the cost to rebuild your home so be proactive in making sure you are covered and in communication with your agent. Great advice from Lion Warner as Hurricane Season is just around the corner.

President Bryan Rennell will be looking forward to seeing everyone out at the Shootout before he rides off into the sunset for the end of the Lion Year.
