Here are four must-see plays, concerts and music events in downtown Conroe in October:

Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival

Downtown Conroe’s biggest party is set for the second weekend of October on the downtown square.

Inspired by Cajun music and the common desire to bring a festival to downtown Conroe, the 15 founding members first came together in 1990 to organize the first Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival.

Since then, the festival has grown to an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 visitors each year.

Randall King is the DeMontrond Stage headliner Oct. 13 at the festival. Bayou Roux continues its tradition of playing Friday night Oct. 13 at the festival as the Cajun Stage headliner.

On Oct. 14, the group Blackberry Smoke headlines the DeMontrond Stage and Geno Delafose & French Rockin Boogie take top billing on the Cajun Stage.

See a full lineup at the festival website. Tickets are also on sale to the festival now.

At the Owen Theatre

The Players Theatre Company opens Ken Ludwig’s “Leading Ladies” Oct. 20 at the Owen Theatre, 225 Metcalf.

Two English Shakespearean actors find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, Pennsylvania is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. What they didn’t count on is the two nephews are really nieces.

The cast list include Tomas Alvarez as Leo, Kolby Hughes and Jack, Morgan Tyler as Meg, Kristen Bennett as Audrey, Jamie Ballard as Duncan, Peg Sampson as Florence, Rusty Groos as Doc and Kevin Downs as Butch.

Jean Ciampi directs. Shows continue weekends through Nov. 5.

At the Crighton Theatre

Stage Right of Texas continues its 15th season with “Clue” at the Crighton Theatre. The show opens Oct. 20 and continues through Nov. 5.

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, “Clue” is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects.
