Montgomery County lifted its burn ban Nov. 1, County Judge Mark Keough announced in a Nov. 1 Facebook post.
The gist
In his post, Keough said the threat of a wildfire diminished after recent rains. With the burn ban lifted, residents can now burn limbs and leaves outdoors but burning trash is still prohibited by law.
According to the Keetch-Byram Drought Index—a tool used to gauge forest fire danger on a scale of 0-800—Montgomery County’s average was 463 as of Nov. 5.
Looking back
The burn ban was first put in place Oct. 14 and extended Oct. 22, Community Impact previously reported.
