Here’s what to know before indulging in one of America’s staples in Conroe:
Burger Boy
Burger Boy owner Mike Nguyen tasted his first hamburger after arriving to the United States many years ago from his native Vietnam. He had his first taste and has been in love ever since.
A Greek couple owned Burger Boy for more than 20 years and wanted to retire when Nguyen bought the restaurant in 2007.
At 217 E. Davis near downtown Conroe, the location was previously the Dairy Mart before becoming Burger Boy and a favorite with longtime Conroe residents. The restaurant has counter service in a drive-in style white building with a seating area inside.
The Big Boy Burger on a ciabatta bun with mushrooms, onion, jalapeno lettuce and tomato is a menu favorite.
Burger Boy also has salads, sandwiches, a breakfast menu, chili, seafood baskets, hot dogs and more. They also kept the Greek salad and gyro on pita bread from the previous owners.

Voodoo Grille
Voodoo Grille opened last fall in Conroe’s Grand Central Park neighborhood as Conroe’s first Cajun steakhouse.
Not only do they serve New Orleans seafood and favorites, they have several different burgers to choose from like the VooDoo burger with bacon, Bleu cheese, pickled red onions and remoulade and the Mae Mae Burger which is Cajun seasons with sharp Tillamook cheddar cheese and sautéed seasoned onions. There is also the Lamb Burger and a build-your-own burger.
