In April 1985, a group of determined women in the Lake Conroe area established the Auxiliary of Assistance League of Houston, paving the way for Assistance League of Montgomery County, which began with 41 founding members. Initially operating from a modest 900 sq. ft. building in downtown Conroe, the organization has confidently expanded into an impressive 8,000 sq. ft. facility, complete with a thriving thrift shop and local headquarters, all powered by over 200 dedicated volunteers.

What truly sets Assistance League apart is its unwavering commitment to volunteerism. Members invest a nominal annual fee and adhere to a minimal volunteer schedule, yet every facet of the organization is expertly managed by these qualified volunteers.

The main revenue source for Assistance League is its award-winning Thrift Shop at 126 N. San Jacinto St. in Conroe, which receives regular donations of clothing, furniture, and household items. Additional funding comes from grants and monetary donations.

Assistance League community programs focus on helping individuals overcome challenging situations. Through these programs, Assistance League is transforming the lives of children and adults alike.
