As families prepare for Thanksgiving, Montgomery County bakeries are prepping pies to serve as the grand finale to the feast of the year. 

Bakeries are taking pie orders now to be picked up prior to the holiday.

Here are four Montgomery County bakeries making Thanksgiving pies and the deadlines to order a pie: 

Pie in the Sky 

The Conroe pie, bakery and breakfast and lunch spot has pie choices aplenty from traditional favorites such as pecan, apple and cherry to more unusual flavors like Nutty Hawaiian and Chia Pumpkin pie. 

Marlene Stubler’s pie in the sky dreams began simply out of her parents’ convenience store on east Loop 336 in 1997. In 2005, she expanded and opened the Conroe location on Loop 336 west at 3600 North Loop 336. 

Pies can be ordered online at the Pie in the Sky website. The deadline to order for Thanksgiving is Nov. 17. They also ship pies locally and across the country. Call Pie in the Sky at 936-760-3301 to ask about shipping options. 

Montgomery Bakehouse 

At Conroe’s Montgomery Bakehouse, the Schenk family bakes with Schenk family recipes that go back to 1938. The location at 240 Longmire Road offers pies, custom cakes, cookies and is known in the Conroe area for its King Cake at Mardi Gras time. 

The bakery is transitioning to the holiday season and offers pie and bakery ordering online at the Montgomery Bakehouse website. 

They have traditional favorites like pumpkin, apple and pecan and unique flavors like peanut butter cream and chocolate chip pecan pie.

Orders for Thanksgiving pies are now open. Call the bakery at 936-756-1745 with any questions about ordering in time for Thanksgiving. 

Vernele’s Bakery 

This Conroe-based bakery specializes in custom cakes plus a variety of desserts and sweet treats. Louisiana native Linda Ezernack and her daughter, Shelby, are the bakers. 

For Thanksgiving they are whipping up Apple Crumb, Apple Lattice, Blackberry, Buttermilk, Cherry Lattice, Coconut Cream, Pumpkin, Pumpkin Pecan, Pecan and Chocolate Bourbon Pecan.

Their deadline to order Thanksgiving pies is Nov. 16. Call 936-521-2589 to order. 

House of Pies The Woodlands 

House of Pies in The Woodlands offers a diner restaurant serving up comfort food and sought-after desserts. This location opened in January 2019 There are three locations in Houston, one in Cypress and one in Katy. 

There are 40 varieties of pies, cheesecakes, cakes and other sweet treats. Their most popular pies include Texas Pecan Fudge, cherry, apple, peach and Dutch apple. Pies may be ordered online at the House of Pies The Woodlands website.
