In America it is our heritage to celebrate the birth of our citizens and to mourn the loss of a life; especially, a life that has an impact on the future in a dramatic fashion.
Ms. Mia Love was an amazing lady who was fearless in her convictions. Ms. Love was the first elected female Republican African American United States Representative on the Utah 4th congressional district from 2015-2019 after serving as mayor of a small town named Saratoga Springs in Utah.
She is best known for her speech at the 2012 Republican Convention in a losing effort for Mitt Romney’s bid as President. She was a highly intelligent lady with quick wit. My favorite quote of hers was, “Remember the Math of America, whenever you divide, you diminish.” Ms. Love’s story should inspire all Americans. She was the daughter of Haitian immigrants and was born in Brooklyn, New York. She shared the story that her parents immigrated to America with just a few dollars in their pockets, but were blessed with self-reliance and not with the idea of a government handout. They pursued the American Dream with all its wonderful possibilities. What an extraordinary story for their daughter to rise in national prominence in just one generation in America.
She was not a huge fan of President Donald Trump. In fact, did not endorse him on his first bid; however, she pointed out on his second term victory, “His policies have a high probability of benefiting all Americans.” Unfortunately, Mia died at the youthful age of forty-nine of a rare brain cancer named glioblastoma. According to experts, Glioblastoma is a deadly cancer with a 10% survival rate that has resulted in over 10,000 deaths per year due to fast growing glioma cancer cells.
Ms. Love was a mother of three children, Alessa, Abi and Peyton and left a grieving husband, Jason, twenty-seven years. Ms. Love’s profound and inspiring words for each of us, “That you will hear my words in the whisper of the wind of freedom and feel my presence in the flame of the enduring principles of liberty. My living wish and fervent prayer for you and for this nation is that the America I have known is the America you fight to preserve.”
