This weekend’s TerrorFest horror convention in Conroe promises to be the scariest edition of the convention yet. 

The event which celebrates all things gore and horror will take place at Southern Star Brewery Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Here are five things to know about this weekend’s TerrorFest. 

What is TerrorFest? 

The convention is produced by Silverback Events which touts its unique and immersive experiences. This year’s event will have an alien, UFO and supernatural theme. Silverback Events also produces the Kimo Kawaii anime experience and convention. The next one is set for June 1-2, 2024 at the Lone Star Convention Center. 

The group is also planning Quiltopia, a one-day event focused on quilt making, quilt displays and seamstresses. This event is set for Aug. 17, 2024 at the Lone Star Convention Center. 

Horror film actors to visit 

These featured actors and artists will have signings and panels throughout the weekend. 

Actress Diane Salinger was in “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure,” “Batman Returns” and “Startrek the Next Generation.” Paul Taylor was in “Hellraiser: Judgement,” “Andromeda,” and “The Gray Man.” 

AJ Stoan will only be at the convention Sunday. He’s know for his roles in “Texas Chainsaw 3D,” “True Lies” and “Patriot Games.” 

Steve Werblun is the storyboard artist for “Hellboy” and “Batman & Robin.” He was also the courtroom artist for the OJ Simpson trial. 

Chris Foreman is a sketch artist for Resonant, Marvel Comics and Archie. Flynn Prejean is a tour poster artist for groups such as the Misfits, Def Leppard, Motley Crue and A Perfect Circle.

Battle of the Bands 

A battle of the bands concert is set for Saturday night at the convention featuring ZombieFace, the winners of the 2022 TerrorFest battle of the bands, and Khathodik, the winners of the 2023 Kimo Kawaii battle of the bands.

Khathodik is based in northwest Houston and began as a heavy metal jam band with no lead singer. In February 2022, female lead singer Skarlit joined the group and a new sound emerged. 

ZombieFace is a Houston-based horror, metal and hard rock band that plays in the Houston region. They’ll be defending their title from 2022 TerrorFest. 

Judges are are James Rivera, Kristen Hart and Frank Robert. The band Supernaut, a Black Sabbath tribute band, will have a special performance. The concert starts at 7 p.m. 

Zombie Love Match film premiere

The horror flick Zombie Love Match was filmed at the 2022 TerrorFest. It will premiere at this weekend’s event. A new film will be recorded this weekend and participants have a chance to be a part of the new project alongside horror celebrities and fellow fans. Also see a variety of vendors throughout the weekend. 

How to go to TerrorFest

Tickets are available online at $20 for a weekend pass. 

The main stage is outside to the right of the Southern Star building and vendors will surround the main stage. The panel room is downstairs at the Southern Star building. Celebrity signings and photos are upstairs in the taproom.Â
