After a hot and dry summer with most days hovering around 100 degrees or above, even temps in the 90s feel welcome and make being outside more bearable. 

With three weekends remaining in September, a variety of outdoor events are set for the last half of the month.

Here are five festivals and outdoors events to check out in Montgomery County:

Montgomery Music in the Park

The Montgomery Music in the Park events is 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at West Montgomery County Park, 16716 FM 149, Montgomery. 

Sample from craft beer and wine gardens and there will be a kid’s zone with inflatables. Live music features Trey Gauthreaux from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Payton Howie from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Hayden Haddock from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and The Chad Cooke Band is the headliner at 8 p.m. 

Tickets are $20 for those 13 and older. Children ages four to 12 are admitted for $10.

Woodforest Charity Run 

Woodforest National Bank hosts the 13th Annual Woodforest Bank Charity Run this Saturday at Heritage Place Park in downtown Conroe. 

This year’s race will include a 10K run/walk and a 5K run/walk. Plus, there will be the popular “Barkley Shoe Dash” for children ages 5-7 and 8-12.

Young runners begin their race with one shoe, dash 50 yards to retrieve and put on their other shoe from a pile of competing runners’ shoes, then dash 50 yards back across the finish line. The 10K is at 7:40 a.m. The 5K is at 8 a.m. and the shoe dash is at 9 a.m. 

The course winds through downtown Conroe and the Uptown neighborhood just north of downtown. Visit the race website to sign up. 

Pints for a Purpose at Margaritaville 

Margaritaville Lake Resort and the 5 o’Clock Phlock Parrot Head Club of Montgomery County will host “Pints for A Purpose” benefiting the local Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease, scheduled for Oct. 14, in The Woodlands. 

“Pints for a Purpose” is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Margaritaville’s LandShark Bar & Grill. 

Guests who purchase one pint of beer will receive one refill in souvenir Margaritaville Alzheimer’s awareness mugs. Margaritaville Lake Resort will donate $8 for each $25 mug sold to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Harris/Montgomery County. The Parrot Head Club will provide a live DJ and games for all ages. This is a free event. 

Event organizers are also planning a tribute during this time to Jimmy Buffett who died at age 76 Sept. 1. Buffett fans are nicknamed parrot heads.

The Woodlands Renaissance Faire 

Returning for the second year, The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra is planning The Woodlands Renaissance Faire from 10 a.m. to the finale concert at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Rob Fleming Park located in the Village of Creekside Park. This is a free event. 

The event opens at 10 a.m. with Renaissance-themed acts every 30 minutes on the “Castle Stage.” At noon a “parade of vendors” will showcase local arts and crafts, and a variety of food trucks will be onsite for attendees to purchase food and refreshments.

At 6:30 p.m., the symphony will provide a grand finale of Scottish music, which will feature Principal Trombonist Joel Brown performing “The Blue Bells of Scotland,” and Craig Livingston on bagpipes.

The Woodlands Margarita Festival 

The Woodlands Margarita Festival is set for 2 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Town Green Park, 2099 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. 

There will be 18 margarita flavors, festival bites and a best margarita competition. This event was originally set for July 29, but organizers moved the festival to late September due to the extreme heat this summer. 

Only those age 21 and older are allowed. Tickets start at $23 and may be purchased on the event website
