Rotarians are still spreading love and service even though Rotary club meetings for this week and next week do not occur during this Holiday time. Rotarians care and serve 365 because we care and have made that conscientious decision to care and serve.
For instance, the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe had a toy drive to benefit Isaiah House resident with toys during this time of year. Isaiah House works with Child Protective Services to care and nurture the innocent victims of abusive home while they are being directed to a suitable Foster Home. This time might be a few hours or days or even longer. The loving staff at Isaiah House nurture these youngsters. And especially appreciate being able to provide Christmas gifts to these young children.
Rotarian Deanna Voitle told me, “Rotary Lake Conroe did a donation drive for Isaiah 117 House the Christmas Season- Today, December 19th was a gift giving day!!! Our club members supported Isaiah 117 House with gifts of toys and clothing for incoming foster children helping to make their transition a little bit easier…Isaiah 117 House is located in Montgomery County. It is a home for children to go to during their transition to placement of a permanent home.”
In addition, Rotarian Deanna reported, “Rotary Club of Lake Conroe partnered with 105 Storage to have a honorary breakfast with the local veterans on Wednesday, November 27th morning as a gift of Thanksgiving. Thank you to our Veterans for their service to our country! Chick-fil-a in Montgomery and Rudy’s provided the meal in honor of our veterans. 105 Storage has provided a place for the veterans to meet weekly for gatherings, dedications and socializing.”
Rotarian Ron Saikowski has a dual identity, being he becomes Santa Claus during the month of December. Last Friday, Santa visited Bridgewood Farms which is a place for Special Adults.” Although those Special Adults have challenges with many have the mental ability of a five-year old, they got to site on Santa’s lap for a picture with the “old guy.” Santa say, “You can look into their eyes and see their souls!” Santa has been visiting Bridgewood Farms since 1990 and finds it to be his most special place. Santa also had visits to several Assisted Living Facilities to deliver presents, several non-profits organizations, and was in the Conroe Christmas Parade on December 14th.
As the year winds down, we reflect on the positive things which impacted our lives. We also make plans for the coming year with our New Year Resolutions. What are your 2025 Resolutions? Do you want to become a Rotarian? There are five Rotary Clubs in Montgomery County ready to welcome those who want to make our communities better.
