Montgomery County World War II veterans George Waters and Bob Putnam had their moment in the spotlight at Sunday night’s Texans game against the Chicago Bears.Â
Waters, 103, and Putnam, 106, were honored on field during halftime escorted by their family members. They were presented commemorative game balls with their name and branch of service by the Texans organization.Â

The veterans share a June 12 birthday and have celebrated jointly the past few years with the Lone Star Honor Flight Wednesday breakfast group at the Poplar Business Park in Conroe. This year two Texans cheerleaders visited their birthday party which led to Sunday’s on-field honors.Â
Putnam served in the U.S. Navy and Waters was drafted into the war and became a B-17 gunner. Waters also was a prisoner of war.Â
