BE Blessed school supply volunteer eventÂ
Conroe student Baily Cowart started a project in 2015 to bring school supplies to students in need.Â
That first-year donation to Birnham Woods Elementary that could fit in a wagon has now snowballed into Baily’s nonprofit B.E. Blessed. In 2022, volunteers visited 11 Conroe ISD schools delivering 839 filled backpacks so children returning to school can have many of the things they need to get the school year off to a great start.
This year, volunteers will be packing school supplies for delivery from 2 to 5:30Â p.m. Aug. 5 in the cafeteria at Bradley Elementary. Volunteers will be packing 1,000 sets of supplies and 1,500 hygiene kits for distribution to 13Â Conroe ISD campuses.
Sign up to volunteer at the BE Blessed Facebook page.Â
Lone Star Family Health CenterÂ
Lone Star Family Health Center is hosting the 6th Annual Don’t Miss the Bus Well Child Visits and Vaccinations event through Aug. 4.Â
Don’t Miss the Bus is a two-week event across all Lone Star Family Health Center locations focused on back-to-school health services. Well child visits and vaccines are free for children without insurance.
For those with insurance, there is typically no out-of-pocket expense for preventive services. Well child visits with a licensed medical professional are required to receive immunizations at a Don’t Miss the Bus event.
To make an appointment for Don’t Miss the Bus, call 936-539-4004. If uninsured, request to speak to an eligibility specialist prior to making your appointment.
All patients must bring a list of required immunizations from their school and a current shot record. Space and vaccine stock are limited.
Visit the Lone Star Family Health Center website for more information or to make an appointment.Â
