The new year will bring an eclectic variety of new businesses to Montgomery County.Â
A new major entertainment venue is coming to East Montgomery County. A few new pickleball spots have opened in late 2024 or will open in 2025.Â
Work will also begin on a new CarMax location in Conroe.Â
Here’s what to know about new businesses coming to Montgomery County in 2025:

CarMax
Location: Interstate 45 and Aaron Pasternak Drive, 6-acre spot, Conroe
Opening: Early 2026, construction starts this springÂ
CarMax’s planned location in Conroe will not be a supercenter store that sells used vehicles direct to customers, according to a representative for the company. The closest supercenter store would still be at 16110 North Freeway on Houston’s north side.Â

Instead, it is a state-of-the-art facility that will recondition used vehicles to be sold to customers at CarMax stores in the Dallas region, with the ability to ship nationwide. It will also have a dealer-only auction facility.
With work starting in the spring, a year-long construction period is expected.Â
LumosÂ
Location: 22296 Market Place Drive, East Montgomery CountyÂ
Opening: Spring 2025Â
A new 45,000-square-foot entertainment venue is planned for East Montgomery County, offering a variety of activities through the use of augmented and virtual reality technology.
Lumos, a high-tech venue being built in the Valley Ranch Town Center in New Caney, is expected to bring activities such as bowling, laser tag, axe throwing and arcade games.
The facility will include a 6,000-square-foot arcade with an Omni arena for virtual reality experiences, karaoke rooms and private event spaces, according to a release by Signorelli Co., The Woodlands-based developer. It will also have a cocktail bar, restaurant and outdoor patio, the release states. It is expected to open in spring 2025 and is estimated at $10 million in construction costs, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.Â

Two Step Farm
Location: FM 1488 and Fishcreek ThoroughfareÂ
Opening: Spring 2025Â
New master-planned community Two Step Farm is coming to Montgomery County and will bring country flair, complete with a dance hall, country store and goats for land clearing. The development will feature 30 residential home builders and a theme of music, farming and nature.Â
It is bordered by FM 1488 on the south and Fishcreek Thoroughfare on the east.Â
The first phase of the development will include:
• The Homestead, which will feature music venues and a goat farm.
• The General Store will offer specialty food and beverages and serve as the visitor center.
• The Goat Farm will be home to a herd of goats responsible for clearing invasive species and noxious weeds.
• The Dance Hall.
• The Two Step Greenbelt will be the main trail through the community for walkers, runners and bikers.
• The Pool House.
Phase one will include 1,100 single-family lots ranging from 35 feet wide to 80 feet wide. The grand opening for the community is planned for spring 2025.
Le Creuset
Location: FM 1488 and Interstate 45
Opening: Early 2025Â
Colorful cookware company Le Creuset announced a Conroe location earlier this year. The store will occupy the space vacated by Wild Thing Restaurant at 14900 I-45 South.
An interior remodel of an existing 7,495-square-foot building is taking place to convert the building to a mercantile space with a completion date of May 2025.Â
The 99-year-old La Creuset is French-Belgian maker of cookware known for colorful enameled cast-iron cookware. Currently the closest Le Creuset location is in Houston Premium Outlets in the Cypress area of Houston.Â
East Montgomery County convention centerÂ
Location: Valley Ranch Town Center’s Entertainment District
Opening: Groundbreaking in 2025Â
The East Montgomery County Improvement District is expected to break ground on a proposed 200,000-square-foot convention center in 2025, according to information from the district.Â
The facility, designed by Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock/Architects, Inc., will feature a 55,000-square-foot ballroom/exhibit hall and nearly 20,000 square foot of meeting space, large enough to hold major corporate events, trade shows, local and regional youth sporting events, consumer shows, galas, wedding receptions, proms and other private events.
The plans also include space for a future full-service conference hotel to connect to the conference center and an attached multi-level parking garage. The project will be supported through sales tax revenue bonds.
Places to play Pickleball
The PickleBall Zone opened Dec. 2 in at 22056 W. Ford Road in Porter. The Pickleball Zone is an indoor pickleball sport complete with 10 indoor courts and the next phase includes a sports bar with big-screen TVs and a state-of-the-art golf simulator.
The only pickleball club owned by a professional player in Houston will expand its footprint into The Woodlands in 2025.Â
Houston Heights-based Elite Pickleball, a training-focused facility that boasts the largest in Texas, will open a 40,000-square-foot facility on FM 1488.Â
Elite Pickleball’s facility in The Woodlands will have 15 courts across 40,000 square feet. Although the club is more focused on training, rather than a social element, the club will feature a smoothie bar that will later host snacks and an alcoholic drink for players to enjoy after a hearty session.
A fall 2025 opening is expected.Â
