Rotarians have many common characteristics in our 1.4-plus million members world-wide such as our values espoused in our “Four-Way Test,” the fellowship, and the service we provide to our community, our country, and the world.
The Rotary Club of The Woodlands recognized an exceptional Rotarian at the annual gala. Julie Martineau has provided many years of service to Montgomery County initially with the Montgomery County United Way starting in 1997 and leading the United Way Efforts for 19 years.
She wore numerous “hats” while raising funds, working with numerous nonprofits, and providing accountability for the millions of dollars of funds raised. In 2017, Julie was appointed as Chief Executive Officer for the Montgomery County Community Foundation.
This Foundation hosts monies placed in the Foundation donations from Families, individuals, and companies for investments back into Montgomery County. Julie lovingly manages these funds as community investments to “make additional money from the money” within the Foundation. This “money from money” is then provided as donations to community in the form of grants to non-profit organizations, scholarships to individuals, and other community-building functions. Julie serves the Community in this manner providing management and accountability to the millions of dollars of funds she oversees.
Her radiant smile and loving, empathetic personality exude in the Community Services she has provided over the decades. When Julie enters a room, she is felt by her love and service. She reminds me of a supportive, nurturing Mother. She is always looking for ways to help her Community, doing things in the background that few notice. Her modest, humble personality is in a loving, supportive manner, always lifting others up to higher levels. Perhaps, it comes from her “Early Childhood Education” at Marymount College or is it in her genes to serve the way she does. Regardless, she has distinguished herself with her service above self that the Rotary Club of The Woodlands recognized Julie at their recent Gala. She is truly a servant of the Community!
