An alternative to the parade is the Intimate Gathering at the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County on Saturday, Feb 22, at 1 pm to hear Maureen Joseph, a designer of men’s and women’s clothing from Nigeria. She will share information about African tradition and culture in fashion. This is a free event but RSVP to reserve your seat at 936-539-6873.

Root for Conroe is hosting the Annual Arbor Day at Founder’s Park in Downtown Conroe from 8:00am-noon also on Feb. 22 with free trees and gardening advice. Come early for best selection.

The Friends of the Symphony are hosting “A Harmony of Wine and Music” fundraiser 5:30-8 pm, Saturday, February 22, at the Symphony Centre to benefit the Conroe Symphony Orchestra. Registration is now open for the 12th annual History Road Rally to benefit Montgomery County Historical Commission, held on Saturday March 1 held at the Lone Star Community Center, 2500 Lone Star Parkway in Montgomery. This is a fun family-and-friends event with teams receiving two hours to solve written clues to the history of northwest Montgomery County by driving to various historic sites in the area, writing down the answers to the clues found at each site confirming they went to the site, and then returning within two hours. The use of computer tablets, smart phones and other research tools is encouraged.
