We are back into Daylight Savings time! Did you remember to set your clocks ahead one hour?
What’s happening at our community theatres?
The Players Theatre Company presents “Tuck Everlasting, the Musical” weekends March 14 through the Sunday, the 30th. This is the story of Winnie Foster, a teenage girl on the cusp of maturity. Winnie longs for a life outside the control of her domineering mother, and when lost in the woods near her home, she happens upon Jesse Tuck (Jonathan Jackson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met before. www.PlayersTheatreCompany.com
Over at the Crighton Theatre, “Donny Edwards as the King” performs for one night only, Saturday, March 15. Tickets available at www.CrightonTheatre.org Next up is “Shakespeare in Love” April 4-20th.
Up Next:
Due to weather conditions the “Isaac Conroe Founder’s Day” was cancelled on Feb 11th and is re-scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at 2:00pm. Join the Isaac Conroe Founder’s Day Celebration to see who is awarded Conroe Citizen of the Year. In 2022 Larry Forester received the award for all he does in our county to maintain historical sites, and in 2023 Susie Pokorski, Executive Director of the Young Texas Artists Music Competition received the honor. February is the birth month of our founder of Conroe, Isaac Conroe, and it seemed more fitting to celebrate his birth as opposed to his death on August 2, 1897.
Award-winning singer songwriter Peyton Riley will be singing the National Anthem after the presentation. Local, state, and federal elected officials will be on hand to share the celebration of Isaac Conroe, born 187 years earlier.
Also, Saturday, March 15 at 1:00pm the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County will host Katherine Persson, retired president of Lone Star College, Kingwood. As a certified Master Gardener, Ms. Persson will share information about landscaping this Spring with native plants including her favorite-roses! Admission is free, but RSVP is requested to reserve seating at (936) 539-6873.
New venue in town! Lucy Blues is now open at 711 Madeley as a Sports Bar & Grill! Did you know it is the oldest bar in the county? Once known as the “Landmark Icehouse” in the Tuts building, local entrepreneur and businesswoman, Debbie Glenn Cross (Red Brick Tavern) has re-opened the venue with plans for updates inside and a refurbished outside with a bar and patio seating area. Debbie brings the music as an award winning singer/songwriter and she is partnering with sports aficionados, her sister Lisa Wong and husband Darrin Cross. Great venue to listen to music and visit with friends. Several events on the calendar with musical talents performing on the “Blues” stage. www.LucyBlues.com
