Historic Downtown Conroe: Conroe locals have the Cajun Catfish Festival to look forward to in October

What is happening next week in Conroe? 

The Missoula Children’s Theatre returns to the Crighton Theatre for one performance Saturday, October 5 at 6:00pm as local youth perform the Wizard of Oz. Auditions are free and will be conducted on Monday, Sept 30 from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Crighton Theatre. If cast there is a $30 fee per child to participate. There are 60 roles available for children in K-12th grade. Scholarships are available. 

Nashville singer/songwriter Shaylen Carroll will be performing at Dosey Doe’s Big Barn on Thursday. October 10th, 2024. Shaylen has family in the Conroe/Montgomery area and as a teenager Shylen spent considerable time in the area with the filming of The Wannabes television show from age 14 as a member of the pop group Savvy.

The 35th Annual Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival is Friday, October 11-Sunday, October 13 throughout the streets of downtown Conroe! The family-friendly event offers live music on three stages, food, arts, and crafts vendors, a professional carnival, community exhibits, and a Catfish Pageant. Do you enjoy car shows? The Piney Wood Model A Car Club will have their display of vehicles in the Heritage Museum parking lot on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10:00am-2:00pm. Enjoy the show for free and then go check out the museum. 

Relive the magic of animation as the Conroe Symphony Orchestra brings to life the unforgettable scores that have accompanied generations of beloved characters with Tunes from the Tunes on Saturday, October 19th at 2:30 at the First Methodist Conroe, 4308 W. Davis. Hear classics from Steamboat Willie, Donald Duck, and Tom and Jerry all the way to the modern digital animation of Beauty and the Beast and The Incredibles.
