Joe’s Italian RestaurantÂ
From early October through the end of March, Joe Haliti and his staff at Joe’s Italian Restaurant in Conroe have their homemade soups offered as a side. This year they kicked things off early on Sept. 17.Â
The restaurant is closed on Mondays but they start the week with creamy tortellini soup on Tuesdays. Wednesdays is potato soup, Thursdays is clam chowder, Fridays is Italian wedding soup with meatballs and spinach and on the weekends they offer chicken and vegetable soup.Â
During the week, Joe’s also offers daily lunch specials. Joe’s Italian Restaurant is at 1604 N. Frazier in Conroe.Â
Urban Grind Coffee
Baristas Audrey Nichols and Brittany Brown run the Urban Grinds coffee stand inside The Collective in Downtown Conroe.Â
Earlier this month they launched their fall coffee menu featuring the Caramel Apple Crisp Latte, Brown Sugar Pecan Latte, Apple Cinnamon Dirty Chai, Peach Cobbler Latte and of course the fall staple Pumpkin Spice Latte.Â
They also have the classics including espressos, cappuccinos, caramel macchiatos and several teas. They say fan favorites so far have been Brown Sugar Pecan Latte and Apple Cinnamon Dirty Chai.Â
Brown said pumpkin spice is the fall go-to, but she wanted to offer alternative flavors.Â
“I was determined to make flavors for people who are like me who don’t like pumpkin but still wanted to partake in the fall flavors,” she said. They make all their own syrups.Â
Urban Grind is at 213 N. Thompson Street. They open at 8 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday.Â
Roasted in MontgomeryÂ
The coffee shop, bakery and breakfast and lunch spot Roasted in the Woodforest subdivision now has apple cider donuts and will soon bring back pumpkin loaves. Spiced apple cider is also on the drink menu.Â
It’s at 2300 Woodforest Parkway North, Suite 600, in the Woodforest neighborhood. Â

Paulette CaféÂ
French restaurant owners Nathalie Annequin and her husband, Jérôme, opened up Paulette Cafe, an authentic French restaurant, on the downtown Conroe square in December. It’s at 406 N. Thompson Street on the first floor of the Moreland Professional Building.
In addition to French crepes, sandwiches, pizzas and quiches, the cafe has many French bakery items. New on the menu are big Nutella beignets. The hazelnut cocoa spread fills the beignet — deep-fried pastry of French origin. The beignet is then topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.Â

Montgomery Bakehouse
This Conroe tradition also is bringing back fall flavors.Â
The bakery at 240 Longmire Road is owned by the Schenk family and uses Schenk family recipes dating back to the 1930s. Known for their King Cakes at Mardi Gras and holiday pies, they also have several fall menu items including the caramel apple pie, pumpkin cheesecake by the slice, apple strudel, apple caramel cake by the slice and chocolate flavored George Washington cake, a Schenk family favorite.Â
Their hand-spun pumpkin pie milkshake is also back for a limited time.Â
