At the 128th Texas Division UDC Convention in San Antonio, ELAINE COLLINGS was shocked when her Name was called out of the entire State of Texas, and announced to be escorted forward by a Paige to the Stage for Presentation! MRS. COLLINGS absolutely sat down in her chair in shock, then finally gathered herself only to keep repeating “Oh My….Oh My….” all the way to the stage. The Texas Division President: LOUANN RUBLE and Texas Division Historian: GINA SMITH made the Presentation of the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal Award, and accompanying Certificate to
ELAINE COLLINGS after reading the qualifications. Only ONE is Presented per Year-
“IF” Approved from the Historian General – United Daughters of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia.
This Jefferson Davis Historical Award is recommended because of Categories where the Award is given for excellence in furthering the study and preservation of Confederate History in Historical research, writing, declamation, or other points of attainment. Each activity must be fully described to qualify. ELAINE COLLINGS WAS RECOMMENDED FOR THIS AWARD AND HAD NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT IT! Documentation and “Proofs” had to be provided along with the Application for consideration.
***Whomever did this for MRS COLLINGS, SHE WISHES TO GIVE THEM HER DEEPEST GRATITUDE AND RESPECTS.
This picture was taken on Historical Evening, and MRS. COLLINGS had just participated in a Southern Period Dress Style for the Convention Attendees pleasure, then following was the Honoring of all the Veterans presented at Convention and their Award Presentations. Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721 Chapter also had a Veteran at the Tx Div. Convention that Evening, Air Force KEN MILLER, who is a SCV, and who’s wife is RJOA EVELYN MILLER. It had already been a roller-coaster evening of emotions when this Special Award was Presented to ELAINE COLLINGS.
ELAINE HAMLIN COLLINGS is a Proud member of the Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721 Chapter, of Montgomery County, and serves her community and Saint Mary’s Church in Plantersville, in every way she can. ELAINE’S Gratitude also goes to her Family who have always supported her: Husband: DOUG COLLINGS, Son: CLEVE COLLINGS, Mother: JACQUELINE ROME HAMLIN, and her deceased Father & Hero: FRANCIS McDONALD HAMLIN.
