Being part of Conroe Noon Lions Club is an incredible privilege that just gets better and better! Lion traditions include reciting the pledges to America and the great State of Texas, greeting fellow members and welcoming visitors, singing ‘God Bless America’ and the always encouraging ‘Smile’ song are part of every Wednesday noon lunch meeting.
Guests are introduced, project recaps and calendar updates are given, and outstanding programs are presented. This week, Lions heard from three Conroe High School seniors chosen as finalists in the annual Diabetic Essay Contest. The assignment was to compare past treatment and maintenance options with new and innovative changes in managing diabetes. All three impressive young student leaders read their essays and Lions voted on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place designations. Each student will receive a $1,500 scholarship.
The winner, Eman Mahmood, will receive an additional $1,500 scholarship and represent the Conroe Noon Lions at District 2S2 contest in January. They all shared heart-felt appreciation of Conroe High School College and Career Counselor, Jessica Beckham, who encouraged them to participate in the contest and was present to cheer them on!
