The Lake Conroe Area Republican Women’s group will have Alveda King as the keynote speaker for the upcoming “Reading, Literacy & the Gateways to True Freedom” event.Â
This literacy event is set for Sept. 21 at the Lone Star Community Building, 2500 Lone Star Parkway, Montgomery. Doors open for general admission at 5:30 p.m. with a VIP event from 5 to 6 p.m.Â
King is the daughter of Rev. A.D. King and the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is also the author of the best-seller “King Rules,” and “We’re Not Colorblind.” She is also the founder of the group “Speak for Life.”Â
Currently King serves as a Fox News Channel contributor, is the host of “Alveda King’s House” on Fox Nation and is a Newsmax opinion contributor.Â
Not only is King a former college professor, but she also served as a Georgia state legislator, was a twice assigned presidential appointee, a 2021 recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2011 Cardinal John O’Connor Pro-Life Hall of Fame Award.
Currently King serves as a board member and senior advisor to “Priests for Life” (on whose pastoral team she served for some 16 years) and is the Chair of the America First Policy Institute’s Center for the American Dream. Â She is also a voice for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, sharing her testimony of two abortions, God’s forgiveness, and healing.
King lives in Atlanta, where she is the mother of six and is also blessed to be a grandmother.
